Cyrus Mistry was the sixth chairman of Tata Sons, taking over from Ratan Tata in 2012.
He was the head of Shapoorji Pallonji group which has the biggest stake in the Tata group
He had a civil engineering degree from the prestigious Imperial College, London, and an MBA from London Business School.
He was only the second chairman in the history of Tata Sons without the surname, Tata.
He was also the only non-Indian chairman of Tata group as he held an Irish citizenship
