graf--p\">Last month, we had released a feature called <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.kuvera.in\/joint-and-family-accounts-on-kuvera\/\"><strong>Family Account<\/strong><\/a>, wherein one can invest through multiple accounts (investment channels), for people in their family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Usually, not everyone in a family wants to get involved with investing \u2014 no matter how effortless we make it!<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong><em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">Managing money is time consuming, and not everyone wants to do it themselves.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Among our users, we see this pattern clearly: one family member following up on queries on behalf of their aged parents, or brother or spouses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Family Account was a solution for that \u2014 all investments for your family members, under one Kuvera login.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><em><strong>Except, there were a lot of users who want more fine-grained access control. Or want a trusted aide to take a look at their portfolio and advise them periodically.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">And that\u2019s where Managed Account comes in. It lets you link multiple logins.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"graf graf--h3\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_a_Managed_Account\"><\/span>What\u2019s a Managed\u00a0Account?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Let\u2019s discuss with an example.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Wife has abc@gmail.com email ID, that she uses to manage all her investments on Kuvera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Husband wants to get into investing his money as well. He has a Kuvera account, xyz@gmail.com. Mostly, he sticks to year-end ELSS investments when HR sends him an email for 80C tax benefit proof submission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">He wants his wife to manage his investments \u2014 select which funds to invest in, how to do the transaction, how to verify the order processing &#8211; he\u2019s happy as long as he gets the ELSS report Kuvera generates for his investments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">He is no stranger to using the internet, or apps, to be more specific. It\u2019s just the investment decisions he would rather have his wife take care of it, for the time being.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">If his wife creates an account in her Kuvera login, as a Family Account, he would have to reach out to her every time he wants to know the latest valuation of his holdings, or get the ELSS report etc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Managed Account allows him to maintain this independence \u2014 and only selectively allow his wife to perform certain activities from his account with full authorization, at every step of placing a transaction.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"graf graf--h3\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Create_Managed_Accounts\"><\/span>How to Create Managed Accounts?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure graf--layoutOutsetLeft\"><img class=\"graf-image alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/900\/1*ZN_vQQLEknsK2MWw17w3FA.png\" data-image-id=\"1*ZN_vQQLEknsK2MWw17w3FA.png\" data-width=\"320\" data-height=\"348\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">First, you have to log in to Kuvera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Use the \u201cAccounts\u201d link on the top-right dropdown menu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Mobile users have the same option available to them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">In the Kuvera app, select \u201cAccounts\u201d link, from the expanded menu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">To access this menu, you need to expand the three-bars on top-right menubar (typical hamburger menu).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*3GRw6FeA4PT9xfFpP27a_A.png\" data-image-id=\"1*3GRw6FeA4PT9xfFpP27a_A.png\" data-width=\"1172\" data-height=\"1022\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">You Can Also Click on Account\u00a0Settings<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">This would take you to the Family Account screen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">If you have it already activated, you should see your Kuvera account listed there. Most likely, it\u2019s called \u201cPortfolio Primary\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">But you can rename it, there itself, using the \u201cEdit\u201d link, or the pencil icon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Then, use the Add Manager link below the account panel<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*NagUMNAEIDJLEfxDxxm_sQ.png\" data-image-id=\"1*NagUMNAEIDJLEfxDxxm_sQ.png\" data-width=\"1668\" data-height=\"494\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">Use the Add Manager button to set up a Managed\u00a0Account<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Once you do this, you\u2019d be presented with a screen, where you can add a manager for your account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">In our previous example, the husband would be doing it from his Kuvera account, to invite his wife as manager.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*0vcew-J_tM-MPTABuWVApQ.png\" data-image-id=\"1*0vcew-J_tM-MPTABuWVApQ.png\" data-width=\"856\" data-height=\"1298\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">Add a Manager for your Family\u00a0Account<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h5 class=\"graf graf--p\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Now_the_fun_begins\"><\/span>Now the fun begins!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Basically, you\u2019ve to enter email ID of the person, whom you\u2019re inviting to manage your account. And it has to be the login email ID of this user, which he\u2019s using on Kuvera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Before proceeding any further, one needs to understand all the risks, and Terms &amp; Conditions of this set-up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">This other person, let\u2019s call him \u201cAccount Manager\u201d, would be able to accept this invite and get full access to your account, from their Kuvera account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Other than your Kuvera password, KYC details, Bank details, Nominee details, and your Risk Profile \u2014 they\u2019d know everything else about your investments, transaction history, active and past SIPs, your ELSS and Capital Gain statements, STP &amp; SWP etc. on Kuvera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">But here\u2019s the catch \u2014 to execute any order on your behalf, they need it authorized by you, via OTP sent to your email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">In other words, Manager gets <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">Read<\/em> Access by default, and <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">Execute<\/em> Access has to be authorized by you via Email OTP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Even when you invite a manager, you need to verify your request by OTP. This is to prevent abuse of your account.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*HPPvT5Gl6qgJAp1cokoWgw.png\" data-image-id=\"1*HPPvT5Gl6qgJAp1cokoWgw.png\" data-width=\"1220\" data-height=\"1006\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">6-digit OTP sent to your email, to verify that the Manage Account request, was indeed raised by\u00a0you<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Once you verify this, your manager would receive an email, asking him to manage your account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">They\u2019d need to login to Kuvera, to accept your request. A potential Account Manager is completely within their rights, to not accept your request to manage your money &amp; investments for you.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Here\u2019s how your account would look, after you\u2019ve raised the request.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*tA8FbFsx_PyHG_t95Yt_Nw.png\" data-image-id=\"1*tA8FbFsx_PyHG_t95Yt_Nw.png\" data-width=\"1674\" data-height=\"708\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">Family Account view, after Manage request sent to\u00a0the manager<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h5 class=\"graf graf--p\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Notice_these\"><\/span>Notice these:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<ul class=\"postList\">\n<li class=\"graf graf--li\"><strong>One can have multiple managers for the same account.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"graf graf--li\">After sending manage request, you can choose to resend the email to your account manager, in case they\u2019ve missed it. Use the \u201c<em class=\"markup--em markup--li-em\">Resend<\/em>\u201d button for that.<\/li>\n<li class=\"graf graf--li\">After sending manage request, if you change your mind, you can simply \u201c<em class=\"markup--em markup--li-em\">Revoke<\/em>\u201d the request, by clicking the Delete button next to the manager\u2019s name and email ID. This would revoke your manager\u2019s access to your account, for good.<\/li>\n<li class=\"graf graf--li\"><strong>Note that Account Manager must be a valid Kuvera user \u2014 as in, they must have signed up on Kuvera with the email ID, and have their email verified.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">And this is how your Manager would see this, under their list of \u201cManaged Accounts\u201d:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*EohRjsjvrYdMnb4MdAi1Ww.png\" data-image-id=\"1*EohRjsjvrYdMnb4MdAi1Ww.png\" data-width=\"1672\" data-height=\"494\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">Managed Account view before accepting the request<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">Note that since they haven\u2019t yet accepted the request, they won\u2019t be able to view any holding<\/strong>. All investment info shows up as XXXXXX.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">They have to click on \u201cStart Managing\u201d to accept the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Once they do, it\u2019s just like another Family Account!<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Your manager can switch to it, move around in your transactions and holdings, view your SIPs etc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Only catch is, now, if the manager wants to place a transaction on your behalf, they\u2019d need double confirmation \u2014 an OTP confirmation from you (it\u2019d go to the email of the account owner), and at the payment stage, from you again, because the bank would send OTPs only to you.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*obRGS2jG7DnyUOXyKRQ7jQ.png\" data-image-id=\"1*obRGS2jG7DnyUOXyKRQ7jQ.png\" data-width=\"1686\" data-height=\"134\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">The manager can choose to stop managing your account as they\u00a0please<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*vtdcxwb65fXtrgEX7L09Gw.png\" data-image-id=\"1*vtdcxwb65fXtrgEX7L09Gw.png\" data-width=\"344\" data-height=\"62\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">Managed Accounts would be clearly marked for the\u00a0manager<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">When the Account Manager chooses to switch between accounts, your account, which he\u2019s managing would also be available as an option in their switch account screen<\/p>\n<figure class=\"graf graf--figure\"><img class=\"graf-image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/1200\/1*ufSstTUS6vnW5VzFAPWSxw.png\" data-image-id=\"1*ufSstTUS6vnW5VzFAPWSxw.png\" data-width=\"1196\" data-height=\"1098\" \/><figcaption class=\"imageCaption\">Both his own accounts and managed accounts are available as Switch\u00a0target<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h5 class=\"graf graf--h3\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_Managed_Account_replacement_for_Family_Account\"><\/span>Is Managed Account replacement for Family\u00a0Account?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">No, it\u2019s complementary to Family Account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">The managed account only links the investment accounts, across Kuvera logins, with certain access controls. It doesn\u2019t replace Family Account.<\/p>\n<p>You can add your Family member&#8217;s (Dad&#8217;s) account within your login as a family account or become a manager for their account which is with different login.<br \/>\nBased on your use case, you may need a Managed Account, a Family Account \u2014 or both.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"graf graf--h3\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_I_convert_my_Family_Account_to_Managed_Account\"><\/span>Can I convert my Family Account to Managed\u00a0Account?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">I had created a Family Account to manage my mom\u2019s investment. Can I create a separate Kuvera login, and manage their investments from my login as a Managed Account?<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">If so, the answer is <strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\"><em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">not yet<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">You can archive the existing account (assuming you have no pending transactions), and create a new account on Kuvera, with different login ID (preferably your mom\u2019s email ID); and then send a managing request to your Kuvera account. But you still have to import your holdings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Remember that you cannot access profile information of an account (KYC, bank details etc.) from within a Managed Account.
