In 2025, Indian mutual funds raised their cash allocations by ₹14,539 crore, increasing total cash held in portfolios to ₹2.01 lakh crore by November from ₹1.87 lakh crore in December 2024. Out of 43 AMCs in 2024, the number has grown to 48, with five new asset management companies entering the industry: Angel One MF, Capitalmind MF, JioBlackRock MF, The Wealth Company MF and Unifi MF. Among those increasing cash, PPFAS and Quant Mutual Funds led the move, while others like Axis and SBI MF reduced cash holdings, reflecting varied fund strategies.
India’s mutual fund industry added ₹14 lakh crore in 2025, taking AUM to a record ₹81 lakh crore by November, driven by strong retail participation and record SIP inflows of over ₹3 lakh crore. Equity markets, rising investor base, and regulatory reforms supported sustained, long-term growth.
