National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) have published a list of holiday dates for the stock markets in 2022.
The general working days for the two Indian stock exchanges are 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Apart from this, trading activities don’t take place during the National holidays.

January 2022
The only holiday in January is Republic Day which falls on Wednesday, January 26.
February 2022
There are no special holidays in February.
March 2022
On March 1, Tuesday, and March 18, Friday, there will be two holidays for Maha Shivratri and Holi.
April 2022
April 14, 2022, is Mahavir/Ambedkar Jayanti and April 15, 2022, is Good Friday.
May 2022
May 3, 2022, is the only trade holiday for Ramzan Id, which occurs on Tuesday.
June and July 2022
Except for Saturdays and Sundays, there are no trading holidays in June and July except for Saturdays and Sundays.
August 2022
August 9 (Tuesday), August 15 (Monday), and August 31 (Wednesday) are holidays for Muharram, Independence Day, and Ganesh Chaturthi, respectively.
September 2022
In September 2022, there are no holidays on weekdays.
October 2022
In October, there are three trading holidays: October 05 (Wednesday), October 24 (Monday), and October 26 (Wednesday) for Dussehra, Diwali, and Diwali Balipratipada, respectively.
November 2022
Only one trading holiday falls in November 2022: November 8 (Tuesday) for Gurunanak Jayanti.
December 2022
There are no weekday trading holidays during December 2022.
The five significant holidays – Ram Navami, Maharashtra Day, Bakri Id, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, and Christmas – fall on Sundays, so these events do not have exclusive holidays.
A separate circular will do the rounds on the official websites of the stock exchanges if any of the holidays mentioned in the list are changed.
The stock exchanges will conduct Muhurat trading on October 24, 2022. The timings of Muhurat trading will be announced later through notifications. For the unversed, Muharat trading is the 1-hour time considered auspicious during Diwali. Generally, it will be scheduled during the evening hours.
BSE has posted a list of 13 trade holidays for 2022. Apart from Saturdays and Sundays, these are the days during which trade will not occur. No activities will happen in the equity sector, equity derivatives, or SLB segment during these trading holidays.
