India is now the top ranked South Asian country in World Bank’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ Index. One of the top improvers this year, India has risen 23 points to grab the 77th place in the globally recognized index. On a similar note, in a recent Standard Chartered study on Emerging Affluent countries, India emerged as the most investment savvy Asian country, with two-thirds of the surveyed population using some kind of investment product.

On the economic front, India and Japan have signed a bilateral currency swap agreement for up to $ 75 billion. This agreement is expected to bring greater stability to the Indian foreign exchange and capital markets.

 

Index Returns:

Sensex reclaimed the psychologically important 35,000 level, as the markets post strong returns this week. Several companies came out with good quarterly results, further boosting the market sentiment.
