All that you need to know about Mutual Funds this week

BSE Sensex fell 1.97%, and Nifty fell 2.19% this week. While -2% may look like a big down move, such market moves are more common than one would expect. Since 1991, the Nifty 50 Index has seen quite a few declines of -2% or more in a day. On average, the index has a -2% down move every 15 trading days.

Mutual funds have added 5.3 lakh new folios in June, taking the overall folio count to 8.37 crore. Inflows from SIP held steady at ₹ 8,122.13 crores against ₹8,183.09 crore in May. AMFI data shows that the MF industry had added, on an average, 9.32 lakh SIP accounts each month during the FY 2019-20, with an average SIP size of about ₹3,000 per SIP account.

Net inflows into equity schemes stood at 7,663 crores in June, showing steady growth this Financial year. In comparison, equity schemes witnessed net inflows of ₹ 4,608 crores in April and ₹ 5,407 crores in May 2019. This growth has been largely driven by Multi-Cap and Large Cap Fund categories, as per AMFI data.

Infrastructure funds underperformed this week, with 3 of the worst-performing funds being Sectoral funds investing in this category. Gold funds outperformed this week with 3 of the top-performing funds from the category of Fund of Funds (FoF) investing in Gold

Inflation rose to an eight-month high in June. The Consumer Price Index inflation stood at 3.18 in June, compared to 3.05 in May.
