Last Week in Mutual Funds: 1st March

There was a lot on the news this week – from trade wars, terrorism, border skirmishes, and an upcoming election. A lot that would seemingly sound scary to an investor. In times like these, a long term investor should remember This Too Shall Pass.

S&P BSE Small Cap Index had its first week of outperformance in quite some time. The small-cap index was up 3.43% versus the Nifty index which closed up 0.67%. Two small-cap funds feature in the most bought Equity funds on our platform in the past 3 months.

The growing popularity of the mutual fund industry and its potential for future growth is attracting new domestic players to foray into this space. Geojit Financial Services and SREI Infrastructure Finance have applied to launch their mutual fund business.

As per reports, SEBI is expected to permit mutual funds to enter the commodities market in its upcoming board meeting slated for March 2019.
