Marshniel Singh: Happy Kuverian

Marshniel is a Happy Kuverian. She has had a fruitful career in financial services in the US and India. She is currently based out of Bengaluru, where she works for a multi-national bank. We spoke to Marshniel about her experience with Kuvera, India’s friendliest Direct Plan Investment Platform.

Emphasis and links are ours.

Where have you usually saved / invested your money?

In the past, for the longest period, it was just my savings account, then Recurring Deposits and Fixed Deposits (NSCs etc.) – based on what my mom taught me. After hiring a financial planner, last few years have graduated to Mutual Funds and some stocks. I have also invested in property.

Did you know about Direct Plans before?

Most certainly did not. Being very old school when it comes to savings, I did not try to find out any more than what I already knew about, until Gaurav from Kuvera explained about the existence of Direct Mutual Funds and how they can save me money in the long run. Some of my investments are in Regular Mutual Fund plans but now I am in the process of moving all my Mutual Fund investments into direct plans (through Kuvera).

What goals have you planned for?

I am planning for my child’s education, unforeseen future expenses and travel. I will add more financial goals as and when they come up.

Will you recommend Kuvera?

Yes, I have recommended Kuvera to a few friends and fresher’s joining my team and would continue to do so. Some of my colleagues have tried and have commented on how easy and smooth the process is.  The same process that took us a few hours to go through with a financial planner, we have completed in minutes. And I can go back and change it when required, no appointments needed. Works very well for me.

Can you share your experience with Kuvera?

What caught my attention was the User Interface – it is way easy to understand and quick to setup. Flows are clear, and at no point were the steps confusing. I like how they do not use financial terminology and keep the entire process focused on the user and investing. I already had a KYC so I could start investing immediately. I had looked at a couple of other investing option and they were either too simplistic or so complex that it would take a long time just figuring it out. For me, Kuvera, has been the perfect mix. A comprehensive solution, provided simply.

Any message for us?

I think you are doing a great job spreading financial planning. I wish I had something like this at my disposal when I started my career.

Sure, please sign up at kuvera.in and then use the “Import Portfolio” and “Smart Switch” feature to import your regular plan portfolio to Kuvera and switch to Direct plans.

      Thanks,
      Gaurav

Yes Vinod you can. We recommend (entire process is online) –
      1. Setup an account with Kuvera
      2. Import your portfolio using the “Import Portfolio” tab (you will see it post login https://kuvera.in/import ). Do read the “Import Portfolio” FAQ at the bottom of the page as well.
      3. Once imported, go to the portfolio tab. When you click on the fund name, you will see the switch button to switch regular plan to direct plan.
      4. Start your direct plan SIPs on Kuvera and then stop them with your broker / current intermediary

Switch is considered a sell and a buy. You can use the smart switch to identify units outside of STCG that can be switched without tax considerations.

Thanks for information. Few more query I have:

        1. I have purchased mf from share Khan and through offline broker too…I have too much funds in portfolio. I don’t want to upload complete profile only few what I want to switch is this possible. Rest I will restructure (sale and purchase) correct amount.

        2. Is bank mandate limit daily limit or monthly limit.

        3. Is change of nominee, address change, aadhar card update and bank account update request will be kuvera responsibility or individual responsibility. How to take care in future (if required).

KUVERA is excellent platform for learning and investment, specially in MF. I have tried other platforms also for direct investment in MF but this seems to be having better features like family account. Although many more interactive features can be incorporated so that the details of the MF scheme are available in one touch etc.
